A name borrowed from the sea
Ancora was founded in 1919, among the first Italian houses devoted entirely to the fountain pen. The name — Italian for anchor — was chosen as a promise: an instrument that holds steady, that endures, that returns faithfully to the hand year after year.
In an age when writing was a daily ceremony, Ancora pens travelled the desks of merchants, officers and correspondents. The anchor became a quiet mark of trust, carried through more than a century of Italian craft.

Chapter II — The House Today
Craft, continued
More than a century on, every Ancora pen is still composed by hand. The house works rare and storied materials — marble from Michelangelo's quarries, lava stone from Vesuvius, exotic woods — turning each into an object meant to be carried, used and kept.
The archive is not nostalgia. It is the brief. Each new collection answers the question the founders asked in 1919: how to make an instrument worthy of a lifetime of writing.
