このペンは、1927 年から 1957 年までイタリアで開催された有名な自動車レースである伝説的なミッレ ミリアに捧げられています。伝統的に、レースは公道で開催され、重複することさえありませんでした。この点で、主催者はルートに沿って特別な基準点を設定する必要がありました。そのため、スイッチの形をした 1,000 マイルの指針は、古代イタリアのレースの公式シンボルとなりました。ミッレ ミリアのペン本体には、有名なパイロット、タツィオ ヌヴォラーリの肖像画と 1930 年のレースの断片が手作りで装飾されています。
